Motion design uses fundamental design principles in a filmmaking or video production context. This work uses animation and film techniques to create interplay between static text or images and an overarching subject, narrative or targeted message. Motion design is engaging and aids in visual communication.

Fast Track to higher education

While potential consumers may eventually want to know about the ins and outs of a new product or service, focusing too much on specific features is not necessarily the best way to introduce people to it. To reach a wider audience about a new offering, eye-catching visuals and strong visual metaphor will resonate with your target audience and generate a buzz around your launch.

The Fast Track Program, or “competency-based learning” (CBL), is a type of learning that is highly personalized and allows students to progress at their own pace. College credits are earned through mastering skills and completing “assessments” that give credit for things previously mastered in a student’s own life. A speed train was used to create a connection between how certain types of transportation can dramatically speed up your journey like different paths through higher education can dramatically speed up the rate at which you get marketable credentials.

When an institution presents a new offering, it is important to ensure brand consistency throughout marketing campaigns and all graphic design tasks or deliverables. A close relationship and respect for the brand, culture, and identity become an integral part of generating and refining creative artwork and ideas. Design and motion graphics by Lydia Reynolds.

Fashion & Textiles Department at Dallas College

When higher education classes became remote in the spring of 2020 during the global pandemic, many institutions were charged with producing instructional videos for students. In this project, over 100 explanatory graphic title sequences featuring 2d illustrations were designed as part of title sequences of videos shot, edited, and produced for the Fashion & Textiles Department at Dallas College. Because of volume and subject, evaluating efficiencies, researching, and introducing new technology and work-flows were important to create a more efficient work environment.

All aspects of graphic design, from conception to delivery, managed by Lydia Reynolds for Dallas College.

POFI — computer applications

Introduction videos can replicate or supplement the face-to-face interactions, but the most important benefit of creating these videos, is to help your audience understand why they’re doing what you’re asking them to do. You can ignite excitement in your viewers about your course by introducing relevant content to them, but it is important not to overload them with too much information. Short and concise is best.

POFI Computer Applications 1 is an overview of computer office applications including current terminology and technology offered by Dallas College. The videos in this series are introductions to units covering computer hardware, software applications, and procedures. Since these videos feature specific software, they are subject to change in the future and it is important to think about content lifespan when making production choices like graphic style and type of motion design. In addition to content lifespan, work should be scalable to appropriately fit project timelines and audience relevance. This project was lead and managed from concept to delivery by Lydia Reynolds.
